Some link-type stuff

Here is an article from CNN about Neil Gaiman. I think I'm vaguely offended by the statement about Sandman that "the series attracted nontraditional fans, such as women, to the comic book world." I'm fully aware of the fact that Sandman attracted a large female readership, and a significant portion of them hadn't previously been comic readers. But there's an implication there that I can't quite put my finger on that makes me uneasy--maybe I'm just over-reacting. *shrug* Anyhow, the rest of the article is very positive. And I was going to pick up Endless Nights today, but it's only out in hardcover and is $47. Ouch. (I did get The Dream Hunters in hardcover for $30 instead of $46. Hooray for comic stores that will cut you a deal!
I also picked up the first Jill Thompson manga about Death, and found a copy of The Merro Tree (a book, not a comic)by Katie Waitman. Hooray for same-sex, inter-species relationships in a SF novel that's all about censorship and freedom of artistic expression! It's out of print and I've been looking for it for about six months now.

If you've ever worked at anything that required customer service (especially over the phone) and you haven't seen Operators Standing By, get thee hence post-haste! (Amy, this is the one I mentioned last night.) The original site is here, and v2.0 is here. Go, read, laugh, tell Jet Wolf she's cool and make offerings of Diet Coke. (Just don't ask when she's going to update OSB, because it's closed now.)
And now I need to go pick up my holds at the library and finally get my address changed on my driver's license. We only moved in April...
