Well. That was eventful.

daemonlunaOh, Friday night. How much was I not planning to spend you in the ER.
When I got home from work yesterday, I left Barb at home with a headache and went to get some groceries. As I was finishing in the check-out line, my cell phone rang. Says Barb, "I need you to come home. The left side of my face is numb."
Erk.
Cue trip to the ER and a bit of heart-in-throat panic.
Turns out, migraines can do that.
After getting Barb triaged and settled in the waiting room, I ran back home to put away the groceries, grabbed supplies (snacks, water, a travel mug of ginger tea, and a couple books), and headed back to the hospital. We got there about quarter past eight, and got home a bit after two am. At which point, I knew she was feeling better because we were both starving, and Barb wanted Burger King (as the only place nearby open at 2am when we could get meat), so we stopped on the way home.
Seriously, as imperfect as the system is, I am infinitely greatful to live in a country where we can make those trips to the ER, and have guaranteed, free access to free emergency medical care.
I am happy to say, Barb is doing just fine today, and we are having a much better evening tonight than last night. Friends from Calgary are visiting, we (and by we I mean Barb) made burgers with home-ground meat and three kinds of salad with pavolva for dessert, and are generally enjoying an awesome evening.
