More bookish things
Nov. 10th, 2004 12:23 pmSo, I just finished the Anita Blake story in Cravings, which it turns out is the first three chapters of Incubus Dreams, the latest one. It took me a couple minutes poking around online to figure that out, but it just didn't feel like a short story. I finally tracked down confirmation in this interview. (Not-so-sekrit message for
channel_force: she is eventually planning another Edward-centric book.) Incubus Dreams is on hold for me at the library, so we'll see how that goes. Though I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to do some rereading first. Maybe I'll start at the very beginning. I'm planning on putting the Halloween decorations away, but spending the rest of the weekend curled up with completely gratuitous reading. Ie, nothing I'm reviewing, or even just storing away in the back of my head for later in a very tangled mental web of reader's advisory type links.
Anita Blake books would be by free association something like adult-vampires-smutty-alternate history not pseudo-medieval worldbuilding-long series-tenuous mystery/crime-horror-if you like Tanya Huff-maybesorta if you like the Kushiel books because of the BDSM content-gay characters-genre. The last book I reviewed got mentally filed under upper elementary-young ya-Canadian-romance-historical-1950s-holocaust a step removed-Jewish chars-prejudice-girl book-if you like Dear Canada etc.
Want to go home and curl up on the couch with hot chocolate and a book. Although I would undoubtedly end up with a small cat chewing on my head, as she's been doing lately. (Literally! On my head!)
Ah, well. Back to work.

Date: 2004-11-10 01:03 pm (UTC)Emma Bull & War for the Oaks. I've met her. I have an autographed copy of War. I have interviewed her and Will Shetterly. She IS COOOOOOL.
Hamilton's 2 favorite movies: I've seen Bell Book and Candle, it is pretty quirky. Vampire Circus is a movie I've always wanted to see, but never found a copy I could view (except a $30 bootleg at a con that I passed on). Reason? It stars Lala "Romana #2" Ward of Doctor Who fame.

Date: 2004-11-10 01:30 pm (UTC)The last book that even remotely held my interest was the one with Edward ... the one man she actually hasn't had sex with, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time. And now I'm going to a scary visual place with long-barrelled guns and eep.

Date: 2004-11-10 03:44 pm (UTC)I still recommend Jim Butcher's Dresden files. The main character got laid one time that I can think of in the entire series. It's more of a magical action-mystery story. Kinda like Hellblazer, but without the booze and smokes. XD

Heh. My parents' cat really likes to lick people's hair, and that's annoying enough. Thus far he hasn't started chewing on anyone's head.

And my friend's cat likes to suck on your shirt while kneading you and purring and purring. Mine just chews on your fingers if she's feeling especially affectionate.

Heh. Actually, my parents' cat does that as well.

Date: 2004-12-20 08:23 pm (UTC)That's possible. My parents' cat was a stray. (Actually, all the cats we've had have been strays before we took them in.)
Mind you, it's always accompanied by eighteen pounds of cat standing on your chest...
Oh, yes, that's always fun! };-)
