Very Strange People

Tagged along with troutkitty and jestyna and chaleur23 for their IFWA subgroup meeting, mostly because it was a waste of time to meet on-campus for supper and pay for parking, leave, drive home, then an hour and a half later turn around and drive back to get them. I took a book.

It was new YA fiction, The Healing Time of Hickies. It's a high school teen angst humour thing. It was sorta like Georgia Nicholson (of Angus, Things, and Full-Frontal Snogging meets Sloppy Firsts, if the main character was a hypochondriac. The problem was, I didn't actually LIKE any of the characters, and the whole thing was kind of frenetic. It felt sort of like it was written by a sixteen year old, not in terms of writing style, but in terms of emotional maturity.

Anyhow, things were rather silly tonight. chaleur23 flashed troutkitty four times in the bathroom! (She was flicking the light switch.) And I will spare jestyna and not tell you what she said in front of the parking-lot attendant.

And I should post my results of the writing exercise I did. Too tired to type it out now. Later.

Found a new HCL LJ community. groupsession! Yay! Just as I was being vaguely angsty and proclaiming myself a fandom orphan.

Want to take this course, but don't have $238 to spare. Thhhhhbt.

Not a fandom orphan! *g* So glad you found our community! It's a little quiet right now, but I have two HCL stories in the works, and did you know that there's a Ray Kowalski/Billy story posted here:

She's a great author, and while it starts Ray/Cal, the latest installment brings Billy in and she writes Ghost!Joe in a way that works, and - yeah.
