It's a wee bit cold here. Like, add in the windchill and it no longer matters whether I'm using F or C. It's been -30C or lower since Monday, and that's before the windchill. And oh yeah, our apartment's been freezing. Like, 15C. 8C on the floor. I've been wandering around with the kitchen thermometer. Although Trout and I were huddling together for warmth while we watched Angel and Barb checked, and the temperature between the two of us (literally, as in she stuck the thermometer under the cat on my stomach) was 36.7C. He's an excellent furry spaceheater, that one.

Cold's supposed to break tomorrow afternoon! I never thought I'd be so excited about a -19C high. I'm having a long and involved conversation with a friend in the southern US about weather. (He's dealing with freezing rain.) The thing is about the cold, is that it's claustrophobic. When it's cold enough to risk damaging extremities when you're out for ten minutes without your mitts or touque, the instinct is to hibernate. The thought of warming up the car, braving the winter streets to get where you're going, finding parking and hopefully somewhere to plug in the car, and then to get home, doing it all again is... not fun.

Speaking of which, had fun Monday night trying to FIND the plug-in on the new car. I was out there with the flashlight , poking around under the hood, with the manual, calling my dad... that's what worked in the end. The damn plug-in was in the front grill the whole time. By that point, I was wondering if we'd bought a strange car that came without a block heater. Heh. (Except we were pretty sure that wasn't the case, since it was locally-owned, but anyhow...)

Complaining about the weather--Canadian national pastime. I had more to say including how cool this week's Angel was (Andrew!) but need to get sleep. Sleeeeep....
