Oh, the sweet, sweet melodrama and angst

I'm on a Brother, Dear Brother kick, hence the icon. Mmm, all-girl school tragedy and angst complete with huge crushes on older girls, hazing, exclusive sororities, hidden pasts, unexpected familial relationships, drug addicted pill-popping suicidal angsty androgynous St Juste, tragic mysterious-heart-illness-suffering tomboy athlete Kaoru no Kimi, and haughty elegant gorgeous powerful cruel Miya-sama who especially likes making St Juste suffer.

Then there's main character Nanako who gets slapped and cries a lot, freaky-girl Mariko who is just desperate for love and attention and says things like "Let's take a bath together because that's what friends do," incestous overtones all over the place, and so much homoerotic tension that completely oblivious non-slashers want to know if all Japanese schoolgirls are lesbians.

That was a couple run-on adjective-ridden sentences. But it's one of my favourite anime series ever, so I'm not going to feel too guilty about waxing incoherently rhapsodic. I need to get Mark's vcr from him so I can make more copies for pimping out to friends. And maybe write some fanfic. I've been playing around with icons and wallpaper that I should put up in my webspace. Happysigh.

I've been kinda working on some HCL fic in the odd, insomniatic couple hours here and there--a couple of stories that have been lurking about on the hard drive for the past, oh, three or four years. A DS/HCL xover that involves no CKR characters, and a HCL one about how Joe had a sister and what Billy thinks of it all. The xover is done but for some tweaking, I think.

And incidentally, the nice people from Cleis Press are looking for queer and bi women to fill out anonymous and confidential surveys for the second edition of the Whole Lesbian Sex Book. Anybody interested, drop me an email, etc, and I'll send you the notice I got off one of my GLBT library lists.

Info duly emailed! And if you want, I'll stick some eps of Brother Dear Brother on a tape for you. I've got boxes of video tapes with assorted junk that could be taped over, and I'm borrowing Mark's VCR to copy stuff for another friend anyhow.
