Belated but heartfelt
Oct. 21st, 2006 12:25 pmFirst off:
Happy birthday to one of my most longtime fandom friends,
joan_not_jaon! She is funny and warm and has excellent taste in books. (Also, currently Sims-addicted.)
Happy birthday
dine! Who I met through the crazy and wonderful people of Bindlestitch, also has interesting taste in books, posts fascinating bits and pieces of daily life, and is addicted to Canadian candy. Among other things.
I got home last night after three days at a conference on libraries and technology. Of course, there's a million things I think we should try. (Library page on MySpace! IM as a reference tool! A wiki for staff procedures! Podcasts and screencasts for library tours and catalogue help! Library photos on Flickr! A whole open-source customizable intergrated library system! Tag clouds and comments in the catalogue!) With any luck, one or two will look feasible.
I had a brief moment of panic this morning when I couldn't find my lanyard with my work passcard and keys on it. Said lanyard always goes into the same pocket of my purse. Er. Almost always. It was either at home, or in another city five hours away. Or in the regional library system van, in which said five hour drive was undertaken.
After nightmare visions of having to get all the locks in the library replaced because I lost my keys (on lanyard bearing the library's name), I came home for lunch (where I am right now), and checked the pocket of the skirt I was wearing last time I was at work.
And yes, there were my keys.
Happy birthday to one of my most longtime fandom friends,
