Domesticity and HALLOWEEN!

Bah, work has been eating my BRAIN. But hopefully the endless cycle of hiring is over. Half a week in Edmonton for a conveniently timed library conference AND a con (Pure Speculation was pretty awesome!) was restorative.
I want a braided rag rug for the sunporch. Soooo, we are making one. Out of cut-up socks. So far, so good. Except for the bit when I tried to iron my progress thus far, and forgot that some of the socks were nylon and there are now some melty bits on one side. I have resigned myself to it having a semi-permanent curl to it. We are disgustingly domestic, actually.
troutkitty has rediscovered crocheting as something she can do while plotting, and I am learning to knit. So far, I can do straight lines, which are turning into a scarf.
To do today: string the Halloween lights up on the sun porch, assemble candy for trick-or-treaters (I think the big skull and crossbones punchbowl is still in the basement), and general tidying-up on account of people coming over later to play Betrayal at House on the Hill.
(ETA: New edition of Betrayal! Ooh, I think I want...)
Seasonal awesomeness: I love Neil Gaiman's proposal to give people scary books on Halloween. Also, I need no excuse to use my Buffy Halloween icon.
