I am having a very clumsy day today.

First thing this morning: need to iron a shirt to wear to work. Proceed to burn my arm on the iron. (Not seriously, though.)

Get to work. Spill coffee on my sweater. Take off sweater to discover that I got peanut butter on the shirt underneath while eating breakfast.

Go home for lunch. Spill soup on the blanket on the couch.

While rinsing soup of the blanket, knock a waterbottle off the bathroom counter, and spill water all over the floor.

Sit back down. Spill soup all over shirt.

Despite all this, it was a good Friday. I got many things finished at work, have the next three days off, and spent the evening curled up on the (Now! Soup-free!) couch with the girl, watching this week's Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, and the past three weeks' Mercer Reports.

First off, is Supernatural getting spookier, or is it just that I've personally found the past two episodes creepy? (Good--though still about as subtle as Trout--but creepier than usual.)

And. OMG. Rick Mercer went to visit Stephen Harper on the Halloween episode. Now, last time he went to 24 Sussex Drive, Paul Martin was Prime Minister. Together... they went shopping at Canadian Tire, and winter-proofed the windows of the Prime Minister's official residence with that shrink-plastic stuff.

Stephen Harper has quickly become notorious for outright avoiding the press. What did he do? Made Rick Mercer a sandwich. Invited him to stay the night, and lent him flannel jammies with little hockey players on them. Rick Mercer played floor hockey with his kids. And made blanket forts.

Though it hasn't changed my views on Harper as a politician... OMG, it was adorable. I heart Rick Mercer. He is my sekrit TV boyfriend.

Rick was later quite...diplomatic when talking to my (sex god) George Stroumboulopoulos about the Harper episode, as seen here on The Hour's website.

That's awesome! I keep meaning to watch your sex god George. Now that we have TV reception of a sort, I'll have to try to remember to.

"You're not the boss of me!!"

I loved it, and I agree, it doesn't change my opinion of Harper and my general dislike of him. But as far as Rick Mercer and his schtick goes. It does raise him a little, in that he went along with it and had fun with it.

Though I generally dislike politics intensely.. I am so proud of our canadian politicians, because they are real people, and they aren't afraid to make fun of themselves..

Yeah--you would never, EVER get that happening with US politics. I mean--Rick Mercer and Paul Martin! Shopping at Canadian Tire! I have a huge amount of admiration for Rick Mercer for his passionate love of politics and how well he manages to share it.
