Okay, questions:

1) Do you know what a basted egg is?

2) What about a vodka paralyzer?

3) Your geographic location?

The working theory is that basted eggs are unknown in Eastern Canada, and vodka paralyzers are mostly found in Canada.

To baste an egg: fry it in a pan. In the last few minutes of cooking, add a couple spoonfuls of water and put the lid on to steam the top. Mmm, soft-basted eggs...

Ohhh! I just call it a fried egg. ^^; And I usually cook mine just enough to not be raw... I love the yolks reallyreally runny. <3

I was raised to call that an egg sunny-side up. I only recently heard the term 'basted' when at Bob Evans -- they said they couldn't poach my eggs benedict but could baste them instead.

No clue on the other stuff.

A paralyzer = vodka, kahluha, milk, and coke. Added in that order, or the milk will curdle. But it has to be cold, or else it just tastes way too cloying. IMHO, anyhow.

Basted eggs are like sunny side up, but with a bit of water added, and then you put the lid on, so it steams the top. I think it's a specifically Western Canadian thing.

In San Diego and at least a couple of the Southern American states, Vodka Paralyzers are known as Colorado Bulldogs. I have no idea why.

Um, when you say Vancouver, you don't mean right at this minute, do you? Because if so, I'll be confused. *g*
