drakkenfyre spent ALL WEEKEND fixing my computer for me, and I am so very, very grateful. It was the hard drive. It failed. It went away. I had to replace it.
And now everything works again, except the sound card. I install the drivers off the CD, it tells me it's missing CTAC32K. I install the drivers I downloaded from the website, it tells me the soundcard doesn't exist. And this is afterdrakkenfyre spent all afternoon trying to make it work. Picking up the CD with the drivers on it was supposed to be the answer. (Even though it was in French.)
Hate, hate, HATE this.
Ed: I don't know what I did, other than popping off the case and double-checking which sound card it was. But when I rebooted, it found the sound card. Now to reinstall stuff...)
