My poor girl is coldish and feverish and sickish, sigh. Poor sweetie. We will most likely be spending New Year's at home instead of over at friends'. Will see how she's feeling by supper time. Meanwhile, I've been reading Yuletide stories on and off all week. Mmm, fannish goodness. Eventually, I'll get my act together and do some recs.

Woo-hoo! Several more people from ye old afsm and Council of Doom days are on lj! As well as [livejournal.com profile] alessar, [livejournal.com profile] gbeans, [livejournal.com profile] jetwolf, [livejournal.com profile] joan_not_jaon, and [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn (in alphabetical order ;), [livejournal.com profile] mimisgrotto and [livejournal.com profile] stephaniejane2 now have ljs. (Hmm, should see if I can find the pirate!COD stuff off the old hard drive... alas, I lost a lot of the stories and art in various hard drive failures, back in the days before CD burners.)

I drifted out of touch with a lot of friends about six or seven years back, and regret it. This is why I'm incredibly enamoured of livejournal, and the sense of social community it creates. The world at large might not care who's gone back to school, or got a new job, lost a job, had a lousy night, read a really good book, or invented the world's best stir fry. However, that's the kind of thing that you do care about when it's a friend, and it keeps you connected. And lj is fairly pervasive, insofar that a lot of my old friends and new friends and people I know from both online and off are on it. *g*

I mean, looking at my friends list... there are people I know from alt.fan.sailor-moon and the ubiquitous Council of Doom and co mailing list thereby spawned (good lord, that was almost ten years ago...), Anime Alberta and the semi-defuncy Bochi-Ki (once an anime club creative club and now nine or ten of us who meet up Wednesday nights at whatever the current pub is--menu changes and losing our favourite waitress has led to several relocations), the insane people from Bindlechat (the Yahoo chat spawn of a DS slash ml), friends from IFWA (local SF&F writer's group), friends I've worked with, friends I've known for years and years... (yes, [livejournal.com profile] naked_bandit, specifically looking at you *g*)

The point seems to be, I'm feeling sentimental today. *g* But I promise you, I won't break out into an impromptu rendition of Auld Lang Syne just quite yet, so you can all put the earplugs away, okay?

In other news, my throat's definitely feeling scratchy. Dammit.
