Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] dine, but it really seems to be all over the place.

Invent a memory of me and post it in the comments. It can be anything you want, so long as it's something that's never happened. Then, if you want, post this to your journal and see what people would like to remember of you, only the universe failed to cooperate in making it happen so they had to make it up instead.

You were working at the Andrew Castell public library branch, and I was there because they're the only ones who have a copy of "Alien Sex". I saw you at the reference desk and considered coming up with a really stupid question to ask you, like, "This guy Dewey, he was evil, right?" but you looked up and saw me before I could. We did that thing of long-separated friends meeting under dire circumstances (though I'd just seen you the week before at BadAss)--you know, the, "Hey!" "Oh, my God!" "Well, how long has it been?" "I don't know. TOO long." "Yeah." "Yeah." Then it turned out you were just about to get off (work, you perv), and I had the afternoon free, so we went shopping together for [livejournal.com profile] troutkitty's birthday present. We went to Fair's Fair and Phoenix Comics and Just For Lovers and didn't find anything remotely appropriate. We stopped for coffee at Tim Horton's, just off Seventeenth, except neither of us had coffee--I had hot chocolate, and you had tea. I bought TimBits and you said you didn't want anything, but then you mooched all the honey-glazed ones. We thought about throwing [livejournal.com profile] troutkitty a surprise party at your place, but then we decided Mr. Trout wouldn't approve--what with the loud noises and the leaping. Besides, there wasn't enough cover on your deck to hide everyone. So we ended up not getting a present, and you gave me a ride home. It was one of those great, easy afternoons where neither of us was in a hurry, and we talked about HCL and due South bloopers and whether Frank's Cock shows that Callum Keith Rennie is really gay. It was a lot of fun. We should do it again some time.

Oh, we so definitely should! *g* (Although [livejournal.com profile] troutkitty is astounded that we didn't find a single birthday present for her at ANY of those places...) And Mr. Trout would hate a surprise party. But that sounds like a fantastic afternoon.

there was that one lazy afternoon when after wandering around coveting various sparkly items, and in a fit of boredom we decided to sample all 32 of Baskin-Robbins flavours. I am still impressed that you made it through them all, as I think I made it to 27 before getting ill.

your proposing thereafter that we pop out for a little snack was the absolute end - I'm never eating in public with you again!

*snerk* Obviously I've come up with the best solution to my perpetual indecision when it comes to choosing ice cream.

Then there was that time that we were teaching English in Japan together...

La Traviata

It was when I saw you singing the role of Annina in La Traviata at the Opera National de Paris. It was clear to everyone that you should have been singing Violetta -- Renée Fleming was no match for your talent, poise and presence on the stage. I had to admire the richness of your voice, and the way you stood your ground with the three tenors, and with the Baritone (Alfredo's father, whatever his name is). I knew immediately that you would be the biggest star of the next decade. When you decided to give up your singing career in favour of becoming a children's librarian, I knew the operatic world would never recover from the loss.

I think the stripper that year at Animethon was pretty memorable... you tried to save my virgin mind with a very large stuffed Pikachu, but it was too late. ;_;

Oh dear god, I had blocked that hideous experience out of my memory completely! *g* Although that trick you did with the bootleg OSTs and the twenty garage kits pretty much saved the day for all of us...

Action Figure

I'll never forget when they made the Children's Librarian Action Figure and it was you. The launch brought tears to my eyes. Then came the cartoon series and then the life action movie for which you won the Oscar for starring as yourself. When you dedicated that Oscar to me, well after you'd done so to Barb, Trout, Minnow, your parents, your brothers, your elementary librarian... maybe it wasn't so special after all. But I was proud of yeah!
