Gaijintastic!
Feb. 1st, 2004 11:27 pmTwo of my friends recently got back from a trip to Japan, and tonight was the grand photo-viewing. Oooh, shrines. Ooh, view from the shinkansen. Ooh, Chris and the persistent deer. *g* And
nekosei's Digi-Chara kitty-ears hat was pretty cool, too. They brought me Totoro trinkets! Wai! I fully admit that I get thrilled far out of proportion by small trinkets. (Yay, keychain! Yay, duckie! Yay... small cat trying to eat my finger?)
Dinner was sushi at a nearby hitherto untried Japanese placed which, on closer inspection, called itself an "Asian bistro." Already not so promising, right? Well, actually... yeah. The other hint was the first page of the menu, with its section of "Sushi for First-Time Sushi Lovers!" My spicy tuna rolls were a sliver of tuna, a big hunk of cucumber, and a liberal sprinkling of cayenne pepper on the outside. I wasn't too terribly thrilled. It was aptly dubbed "Gaijintastic!" by Dan. (
channel_force, we missed you, but you didn't miss out much when it came to the sushi, that's for sure!)
I caught the last little bit of an ep of Six Feet Under on Showcase tonight--1x12 "A Private Life," with the kid who got gay-bashed. I suppose it's too much to hope that they're going to be showing season two... Yeah, apparently it is. Sigh.
