Every couple months, the meme pops up about guess the lyrics from random songs on your Ipod, or post the first line of page 35 from the five books closest to you. It's always neat to get a little glimpse into what everyone is listening to or reading, but I am inevitably very bad at guessing song lyrics. (I'm also very tone deaf... I wonder if the two are connected?)

However, there's recently been a guess the first lines of kids and YA books meme circulating, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fox1013 and [livejournal.com profile] jadelennox. Aha, I said. I can do this one! So, there are fifty first lines from kids' and YA books over here in my book blog.

C'mon, you know you want to guess!

Yay! There, I think. (You will recognize a few for sure, because I think I've got a few you had on your list, too. But... favourite books! Hard to pass up!)

No, only twice. *g* Nineteen out of twenty! (You almost had number five! And I kinda messed up there by not taking out either character name.

Also, I will be very pleasantly surprised if you do know 44, since it's a brand new book by a noteworthy Canadian kids' author.

(The key word there being Canadian. I don't know whether it's been published in the US or not, which is a shame because it is an excellent book!)

I didn't get any! But I hope you cross-post the titles to LJ, because I wouldn't mind reading a couple of them.

You should go comment with the two you know, because I am curious about which ones people recognize! (Knowing full well that not everyone is as big a kids-lit geek as me.)

And I will definitely be posting the list of what they all are. (Possibly with helpful amazon links.)

I will definitely cross-post to LJ--there's some really good books on the list, in my ever so humble opinion.
