Domesticity and some unrelated SPN-ish things

Today, I took the storm window off the spare room upstairs. Our house is almost a hundred years old, and still has the old wooden windows. Most of the windows have storm windows permanently painted on, but the bedroom and downstairs bathroom both have seventies aluminum frames and open (thank god!) and the window in the spare room has a removable storm window, and a screen that fits into the open window.

The thing is, the spare room is upstairs and putting on and taking off the storm window means climbing onto the back entry roof. My dad put it on for us in the fall (climbing up on the Scary Wooden Ladder that he found behind our garage, that looks older than our house). I pulled out the Scary Ladder, got halfway up it, backed down, got troutkitty to hold it for me, went most of the way up... came down, put the ladder back in the garage, went to Canadian Tire and bought a new ladder (it is a Vulcan brand ladder! And it folds up into sections, so it fit into the car), climbed onto the roof with the new ladder, took down the storm window and passed it to troutkitty through the now-open window, and climbed through it into the house.

Tonight, we hope to get a cross-breeze through the upstairs.
