Damn, the Rockies are gorgeous...
May. 15th, 2005 11:05 pmOn Friday, we drove out to Fairmont for the weekend.
We got a package deal (and a free DVD player!) in exchange for sitting through a time-share sales pitch, and I think it was worth it. (They seem so taken aback when you just say no...) And it's a gorgeous, gorgeous drive, up through Banff and through the Rockies, down past Radium Hot Springs.
Accomodations were great, with a HUGE tub (took half an hour to fill, and fit two people with room to spare) and a full kitchen. Sixty dollars worth of groceries meant we had porterhouse steak, grilled yams, tomatoes, and asparagus Friday night, cheese fondue on Saturday, and grilled salmon, potatoes and onions, and broccoli before we left today.
We didn't actually make it to the hot springs--not a huge deal for me since we went every year when I was a kid, and my parents still go up in the fall, and honestly,
troutkitty was happy with the tub. I made a significant dent in my large stack of library books (book blurbs to follow, tomorrow-ish),
troutkitty wrote a half-dozen pages and got a significant amount of plotting done, and neither of us got sunburned. I'm glad to be home with my own, unlumpy pillow though.
On an unrelated tangent, we've started watching torrented eps of Stargate Atlantis. And it's clear to both of us that McKay is Mulder and Methos's bastard lovechild. I will likely have more to say after we watch a few more eps, but at this point tonight... yeah, that's pretty much it.
ETA:Damn... I meant Shepherd is Mulder and Methos's bastard lovechild. He looks especially Mulder-like when all unshaven. It's kind of surreal.
To do this week: More resumes and cover letters to go out. Also, time to head out to the nursery and get some plants!
