Tomrrow? It's supposed to be 35C. Friday? 37C. THIRTY SEVEN DEGREES. That's 98.6F, for those of you south of the 49th parallel.
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
I am off work on Friday. My plans involved, out of necessity, doing numerous loads of laundry. I think I will just wash the bare essentials in the cold cycle, and hang it all to dry, as the thought of turning on the dryer makes me want to cry.
Things that are yummy when it's really hot, aka I think I'm kind of hungry:
It is really easy (if you can chop up a melon and use a blender and measuring spoons, you can make it), the most estoric ingredient is buttermilk (thought we added a bit of cayenne pepper) and so very nice and cool. (Recipe shared upon request!) We have a giant bowl in our fridge right now. Estimated time it will last: three days, maybe four. We shall see...

Things that are yummy when it's really hot, aka I think I'm kind of hungry:
- Pita bread, feta cheese, cucumber, and olives.
- Vast quantities of watermelon.
- Cottage cheese with fruit. Preferably berries. (Although watermelon + cottage cheese is also good.)
- Smushed raspberries + splenda or sugar + grated ginger, add ice and club soda.
- Soba noodles, with green onion, cucumber, and a hard-boiled egg.
- Grilled chicken over salad, with cucumber and avacado and sunflower seeds and the salad dressing of your choice.
- Grilled veggie pizza (grilled veggies + bbq sauce on a pita, with the cheese of your choice.
- Grilled veggie and couscous or quinoa salad
- Sushi. Enough said.
- Teriyaki chicken breast + bean sprouts + strawberries + pumpkin seeds + avacado. (Somewhere I have a recipe for this, and the dressing involves orange juice and soy sauce.)
- And the latest addition to my personal repertoire of incredibly yummy summer things: cucumber melon soup, from the Moosewood Restaurant Celebrates cookbook.
