Oh April...

Three days ago, it was snowing. Yesterday and today it was 15C and sunny. Tomorrow, more snow. Welcome to spring in southern Alberta... So yesterday, I spent two hours sitting in the front yard, digging dandelions out of the lawn. Giant dandelions. With roots as big around as my thumb. And they will come back, oh they will, but I will keep kiiilling them ded.

The downside--though, after about three minutes outside, I went back in and put on sunscreen and a hat (for I am pale and pasty), every time I bent forward to reach another clump of dandelions, there was this strip of bare skin exposed at the small of my back... Yeah, it's now bright pink.

In conclusion, the first two episodes of this season of Doctor Who have been great. Also, the small cat is trying to dig her way under the closed office door. She is not too smart but terribly persistent.

Heh. Last week, between Tuesday and Wednesday we had more than a 40-degree temperature drop, from about 79F to 34F for the high each of those days, and it snowed on Wednesday. I guess having lived in Ohio for so long might've made me more prepared for living in Canada someday than I thought.

Have you heard about -- or already read -- Scott Westerfield's novel Peeps? It sounds interesting, although the parasitic discussions could be too much for me.

Specifically, for living in Canada on the prairies. *g* The weather systems sweep in, and then they sweep out. Plus, there's the chinook factor here in southern Alberta.

I have read Peeps! It's in my very long list of books I have yet to write about, but I did enjoy it. The parasite bits are pretty gross, but are in separate short-short chapters, so are easy to skim or skip.
