Odds and ends of non-linky things
Mar. 7th, 2007 11:12 amFor all that the morning started with a call from the dentist's office (despite the almost three hours I spent there Monday, they needed me back for one more mold of my teeth), today's looking pretty good--it's starting to feel like springtime outside. Sun! Warm sun!
Sunday, we consumed vast amounts of sushi and noodles, with Dan and Mannie,
queenzulu,
mockingspike,
cguy,
nekosei,
drakkenfyre, and
svartormr. Quotable moment:
mockingspike staring sadly at his dumplings, "I can never talk about Chinese food with my mom. She calls these 'potlickers,' and that's just not something I want to hear my mother saying."
(Various conversational tangents led us to wonder what would have happened if
drakkenfyre and Mannie had been at the same end of the table. I remind everyone that last time that happened, by the end of the evening they were planning on starting their own porn studio together.)
We have determined that full of sushi is the best state in which to visit T&T's, the big Chinese grocery market, to stock up. (Dumplings and sticky rice for dim sum and jasmine tea and karashi and dashi and nori for avacado rolls and copious amounts of edamame. But sadly, we got there too late for coconut buns or BBQ pork buns.)
Not-so-seekrit message to
queenzulu and
drakkenfyre: To add a syndicated rss feed to lj, go here and just paste the link into the box. And if you see a feed on lj, clicking on the rss symbol will take you to the profile of the feed to add it to your flist. Ie, my book blog at
elis_reads is here, and Dan and Mannie's blog at pocky.org,
pocky_dot_org is here.
Speaking of which, Dan's been posting some videos lately, including Lizzie in the snow (cute corgi with frisbee and frolicking! Yes,
jetwolf, it's a cute puppy video and I am looking at you!) and cooking okonomiyaki.
And if you're feeling link-deprived, here are some of the yummy things
troutkitty has put together lately: lemon-ginger iced green tea, tomato-shrimp pasta, chicken kimchee soup, ginormous sandwiches, pot roast and spinach curry.

Skating and giggles
Date: 2007-03-08 10:07 pm (UTC)Much hilarity was missed by those who didn't come skating with us last night. We had several enjoyable verbal exchanges. Here are some samples, spliced together:
Also, I just came across one of the strangest instrument choices for a song that I've ever heard. It sounds like Phantom of the Deliverance:
