daemonluna | Final Binderary Round-Up

Binderary 2023, the final total! Fourteen books in six fandoms, all cased in. I’ve got some of them tipped title down for things like gift copies, and one or two where I haven’t been in touch with the author yet to see if they mind photos shared publicly.

It would have been fifteen, but I hit a point of serious decision fatigue and literally could not pick between two options for the cover material, so decided that I should leave that last one for later.

Two still need spine titles, and one of those also needs cover lettering. Hand-sewn endbands on all but one. This was far more than I thought I’d get done this month, even though I didn’t hit my original total arbitrary goal of twenty, which was a ridiculous idea. I thought I could throw in another five pamphlet binds. I could not.

However, more than an arbitrary number, I wanted to get a bunch of in progress books FINISHED, and get more comfortable making cases and casing in, since I kept stalling out at the textblock stage. (As was evidenced by the point last Nov where I had twelve at once sitting on the dining room table.) And I would call that a success!

I also discovered all sorts of new and unique ways to fuck up along the way, along with the problem solving that comes with it. Done for real is better than hypothetically perfect! Right now from a vantage point of March, I say that I’m going to probably aim for fewer books next year. But we’ll see how wildly optimistic I feel next January…
