Blood Ties

So, apparently I have been horribly remiss in posting links about Blood Ties, the new TV series based on Tanya Huff's Vicki Nelson books, because neither [livejournal.com profile] alessar or [livejournal.com profile] joan_not_jaon had heard that it was on! So without further ado...

Love Bites In Blood Ties "Peter Mohan, executive producer of Lifetime's upcoming new vampire series Blood Ties, told SCI FI Wire that the show will explore the romantic triangle developed in Tanya Huff's five-book series, The Blood Books."

Here's a link to a Two part interview with Peter Mohan, the showrunner on Blood Ties.

And Lifetime's official show site has an author blog from Tanya Huff, behind the scenes videos, and some clips.

(Also, here's what Tanya Huff says on lj about why no Tony. The same info in brief is here on the official website blog, along with why Henry is a graphic novelist instead of a romance writer. Of all the minor changes, those are the two I wish they hadn't made the most. And I can see why with Tony, but! Vampire romance author!)

I have to say, I love the books. [livejournal.com profile] troutkitty read the Tony books, and went back and tried to read the Vicki ones, but just couldn't because the writing style didn't agree with her. However, I read Blood Trail when it first came out, and it's been an old familiar favourite series for a while.

That being said, the premiere episode... it has its high points. There were a few very cool scenes, and a couple points where the dialgoue made me cringe a bit (cliche and infodump all together). I think the plot and tension suffered a bit from the whole book being compressed into a two-episode block, and the beginning was a bit choppy because of it, but I am optimistic. We shall see.

I haven't watched the first ep yet, but I enjoyed the books. I actually loved the Smoke books a lot more, probably because I identify so much more with Tony than Vicki (also, I'm a little bit in love with Zev Sero), but the Blood books are a lot of fun.

I love that series like this and Dresden Files have been getting made lately! I'll keep my fingers crossed that this does amazingly well and someone makes the Smoke series next!
