Quiet, sleepy Friday night and some fannish nostalgia

It's eleven o'clock on a Friday night, andI'm curled up in front of my computer in my pajamas, yawning. It's a miserably windy and cold spring-on-the-prairies kind of night out there, and staying home tonight sounded fantastic. I'm positively reveling in the fact that I get to sleep in and have an equally lazy Saturday morning. We've been busy-busy for the past few weekends, and some down time sounds good.

That being said, I've volunteered to rec HCL for [livejournal.com profile] crack_van next month, and have been poking through old bookmarks and such. (I'd sign up to rec TiW, but at the moment, it's not so much "small fandom" as "miniscule fandom." Need more fic!) Anyhow, I need a HCL icon again... (one of these days, I will be a paid member with all the extra icons that ensues, dammit!)

Ah, Hard Core Logo. Lovely, lovely, dysfunctional and co-dependent, raw and gritty Billy/Joe. I'm currently feeling vaguely nostalgic. Also, pondering the ethics of reccing fic written by your SO. There's not a ton of fic out there, and a large chunk of stuff got lost when the Ten Buck Fuck archive closed. *I *cough* had almost all of it saved on my hard drive at one point, and probably still have it on a CD somewhere. The Bindlestitch archive also went away. Tsk, I say. Tsk!

I made the mistake of poking around through my own HCL fics. (Imagine the dest and cobwebs puffing up from that folder on my hard drive...) I'm wondering if I'll ever finish the Joe-has-a-sister fic, which has a beginning, most of the middle, and the very end, but no middle-end. And I should just post the damn Joe/Fraser DS/HCL xover that is technically done. I haven't touched it in almost two years, but it doesn't actively make me cringe. There's a couple bits of purple prose I might cut, and I'm not sure that Fraser isn't sounding kinda OOC, but it's been so long since I've written in the fandom that I don't think I have any hope of fixing it. Why am I posting it, you ask? Because I still have the same reaction to same-actor crossovers and am stubborn enough that I wanted to slash the two non-CKR characters. I think it may have already been done (damned if I can remember by who), but it was a much... nicer story than mine.

And good lord, I seem to be enamoured of long, rambly sentences tonight.

...

Did I mention that I get to sleep in tomorrow?
