"Casual" day

The last Friday of every month is casual day at one of my two schools. Usually, the wee kiddies are in uniform, but on casual day, there are no uniforms and there is a theme. Pajama day, wacky hair day, inside-out day, these are all well and good. (Fancy Dress Day in December, not so much.)

I spent an hour tonight making a giant paper bag.

Tomorrow is "dress like your favourite book character day," and seeing as I'm the librarian, I can't exactly not play. (Plus, Friday mornings I have five classes in, and all but one class of grade fours is seven or under.)

So yes, I am going as the Paper Bag Princess. We share the same first name and everything. We shall see how many Harry Potters there are running about. I'm totally taking my camera!

Hee. Krazy Kat sounds like an awesome costume.

Oh, we had a whole bunch of not really book characters, from ninja turtles and Disney princesses to hockey players. (And a kid in a santa hat who was a "hockey playing Santa who left his jersey in the classroom. Oookay then.)

The last few casual day themes have been way too labour-intensive. (Especially since it's always Fridays when I mostly have the little guys in the library, so I kind of have to play along.) Pajama Day and Crazy Hair Day were okay, but from there it was Costume Day, Fancy Dress Day, and Dress Like Your Favourite Book Character Day. Fortunately, next month? Athletic Wear Day. I'll be so glad to be able to pull on a sweatshirt and jeans and call it done.
